About Pete
Pete was born and raised on the Navajo Indian reservation. After graduating from Whitehorse high school in Montezuma Creek, UT, he went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Law at Weber State University in Ogden, UT in 2009. Nevertheless, he couldn’t help it and gave into the creative bug.
He took an extreme left turn in his life and started towards a career in entertainment. He began touring the country playing country music and pursuing photography. He co-wrote a song with another indigenous artist from Canada and that is how he caught the ear of “Yellowstone” creator, Taylor Sheridan. After shooting a scene for the first season of Yellowstone, Sheridan took a liking to Pete and his style. Soon enough Sheridan took Pete under his wing and began mentoring him about the film business. Learning how to write screenplays and filmmaking in general for the first three seasons of Yellowstone.
Pete is currently in the middle of developing several film and writing projects. His main project now is a children’s TV show called “Navajo Highways” that he created. It’s a show about Navajo puppets that travel the Navajo reservation learning the language and culture. It is my attempt to help revitalize the Navajo language by engaging with the younger Navajo generation.
