TIME FOR THREE: Ranaan Meyer, Nick Kendall, Charles Yang
Time for Three transcends classification with their uncommon mix of virtuosity, showmanship, and vast musical range. The American trio performs original material, music from Bach to Brahms and their own arrangements of everything from bluegrass to ingenious mash-ups of hits by the Beatles, Kanye West, Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake.
To expand its unique repertoire for symphony orchestras the ensemble frequently commissions new work including Concerto 4-3 by Pulitzer-Prize winning composer Jennifer Higdon, Travels in Time for Three by Chris Brubeck-co-commissioned by the Boston Pops, and nine other orchestras, and Games and Challenges by William Bolcom, commissioned by the Indianapolis Symphony. A three-year residency with the Sun Valley Summer Symphony includes commissions for three new works: Elevation: Paradise which premiered in Sun Valley in 2015 and Free Souls in 2016.
Time for Three’s 2014 debut Universal Music Classics album Time for Three, was on the Top 10 of Billboard Classical Crossover Chart for seven consecutive weeks. Their Emmy-winning show Time for Three in Concert aired nationwide on PBS in March, 2016. The hour-long program in collaboration with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Universal Music Classics and WFYI Public Media, brings together diverse artists and unique arrangements to create a one-of-a-kind concert experience.
The trio has made hundreds of appearances in engagements as diverse as their music. Recent highlights include its Carnegie Hall debut, appearances with the Boston Pops, Melbourne and Philadelphia Orchestras, Schleswig-Holstein Festival, a sell-out concert at the 2014 BBC Proms, and an appearance on the ABC prime time hit show Dancing with the Stars.
